Some of the best moments of a family trip happen around the table. Some of the worst happen in the kitchen afterwards, when one person is washing up for eighteen while everyone else is in the game room. A private chef solves that, and it is less extravagant than it sounds when the cost is split across a large group.
How it works
We have partnered with yhangry to bring a chef to the cabin. You choose the kind of meal you want, talk it through with the chef beforehand, and then you turn up to the table. The chef sources the ingredients, cooks in the cabin’s kitchen, serves, and leaves the kitchen spotless.
What you can book
It is more flexible than people expect. A gourmet breakfast or brunch for the whole house. A multi-course tasting menu for a milestone birthday or anniversary. A relaxed family-style dinner on your first night, when nobody wants to shop after a long drive. Or a barbecue and grilled feast out on the deck.
Dietary requirements are part of the conversation
Large groups almost always come with a mix of allergies, preferences and at least one fussy eater. You discuss all of that with the chef during the consultation rather than hoping for the best on the night, which is usually easier than trying to cater for everyone yourself.
When it is worth it
Three occasions come up again and again. The arrival night, when the drive has taken longer than planned. The one big celebration meal in the middle of the week. And the night the adults want to have a proper conversation without anyone getting up to check a pan.
The kitchen is still yours
None of this replaces cooking together. The cabin has a fully stocked chef’s kitchen with room for several people to work at once, and most groups do a mix of both across a week. A chef for one or two nights, and big shared breakfasts the rest of the time.
Arranging it
Private chef service is available on request, so let us know as early as you can and we will help set it up. You can read more on our private chef page, and the house guidebook we send before check-in has the details too.
